Girwim - Giropes has been selected through a tendering process by the Generalitat de Catalunya to build the three new weighing stations on the Catalan AP-7 highway, a project valued at about 2 million euros and scheduled to be completed during 2024. The project, conceptualized by the Directorate General of Traffic and Mobility (DGTM) and financed by the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan - Funded by the European Union - NextGenerationEU, aims to establish several high-speed weighing points in strategic sections of the road network of Catalonia, being the largest project in Europe to use this technology. The weighing points (with Kistler sensors) will be used to pre-select vehicles that exceed the weight limits established by law and then carry out a second check using various verified and certified Giropes' weighing equipment. In addition, ANPR and CCTV cameras integrated into the system will be installed to capture all vehicles in circulation. In parallel to the high-speed stations, OIML R 134-1 certified low-speed Giropes weighing systems will be installed, allowing the sanctioning of vehicles with 2 or more axles at speeds of up to 10km/h.
